Frequently Asked Questions

ARE ESSENTIAL ITEMS STILL FREE?

Items provided to families by Sammy's Window have not changed. All clothing and other items like toys, baby equipment, new socks, underwear, PJS, diapers, food are still available at NO COST to families for children in foster care.

HOW DO DONATIONS WORK?

Donations are accepted Tuesday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and Saturdays from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM. We welcome clothing for all ages and sizes, including gently used items. Anything we are unable to use is responsibly recycled through our community partners. In addition to clothing, we accept a variety of other essential items. Monetary donations can be made in-store at Sammy’s Window or online by selecting the “Financial Donations” link under the “What You Can Donate” tab. Please note that we may occasionally place a temporary hold on donations due to high volume or limited volunteer capacity. Updates regarding donation holds will be shared on our Facebook and Instagram pages. You may also call ahead at 573-200-8160 to confirm our current donation status. All donated items are made available to foster families in our community at no cost.

IS THERE A LIMIT ON FREE ITEMS?

We have adopted the same policies as the other FosterAdopt Connect Sammy's Window locations. There is a limit of 1 per month per child on: toys, socks, underwear, pajamas, and coats. There is a limit of 1 set of diapers and 1 set of wipes per month depending on availability. There is a limit of 2 per month per child on shoes. There is a limit of 3 per month per child on books. There is a limit of 7 outfits per child, per month (ex: 1 shirt and pair of pants). There is a limit of 2 household supplies per family, per month. There is a limit of 3 pieces of children’s equipment per family, per month. There is a limit of 4 hygiene items per family a month. Families may only visit once a month, with visits restarting on the 1st of each month.

HOW IS THE MONEY MADE FROM RESALE USED?

Every dollar generated by the Children’s Resale Store is reinvested back into the program—helping us restock our resource pantry, provide essential items to families, and maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming space for our clients to shop.
